Dog Lives To Bark About Gassing

POSTED: 12:40 p.m. EDT August 7, 2003

ST. LOUIS -- A 1½-year-old dog was gassed at a St. Louis animal control center, and he lived to bark about it.

Workers at the center don't know how the dog -- a Basenji mix named Quentin -- survived the euthanasia Tuesday. But some are calling it a miracle.

Other strays that were gassed with Quentin died, but his survival earned a reprieve. Animal control turned Quentin over to Stray Rescue of St. Louis, a no-kill shelter run by Randy Grim.

Grim said that after a visit to the vet and a little loving care, Quentin should be ready for adoption.
