There's a reason for that saying. We can thank politicians
mostly for it's origins. But these days, with journalistic
integrity becoming an oxymoron, they can lay claim to the
accuracy & damning reality of that statement.

BTW, a couple of other terms; 'seasonally adjusted' & 'hard
core unemployed', are making the reported unemployment
statistics part of the worst kind of lie. We only get the
seasonally adjusted numbers sans the hard core unemployed.
The raw numbers are significantly higher every single week,
which sort of makes a mockery of the "smoothing out" effect
of seasonally adjusted numbers.
