Ally, your observation that Win98 is solid and WinXP crashes often is the opposite of what I have observed and read about. If WinXP crashes often, there are probably some other issues with that computer.

I think you probably have some other problem on your PC..

I have XP Pro, dual monitors, have any given time 5-6 Explorer windows, couple of Javabased Trading screens (with streaming quotes) etc. open.. Over a year since I have had this machine, I have had blue screen may be twice..

I just got a new computer with XP loaded on it,
and I'm not impressed.
My old one with WIN98
seems to run faster even though the new one
has a much faster processor.
Perhaps it's because I don't know how to
set the "swap disk memory" in XP.
In 98 I don't let win manage my disk swap,
Where Win changes the size of it when Win
thinks it needs more.
I set it the same MIN as MAX and defeat the
changing size thingy..
I don't see how to do that with XP..
----
I'm about to blow XP off my new set and install
the old Win 98, at least I'm use to it.
Any ideas ?
Jim
