Nope you're wrong about the arousal thing. Men are opportunists, and women don't need to be aroused to procreate. Profoundly "heterosexual" guys go to prison, and they have sex with men (and imagine they are women, if necessary). All a profoundly gay person needs to do is imagine he or she is having sex with a person of the same sex. Arousal can be created in the mind Neo- that's why masturbation works.

I saw the series on Sparta. I recommend it as well. However, I did not consider the buff men situation as "cool." In Sparta, boys were raised under very brutal and inhumane circumstances. Those who survived lived a life entirely focused on fighting to the death in battle. Women were chattel. Children who did not "measure up" at birth were thrown over a cliff to their deaths. The culture was entirely focused on training for and fighting to the death in battle. By modern analysis the boys who were raised under these circumstances, would be properly labeled as severely emotionally disturbed persons as adults.
