Likewise carrying
a banner for a Constitutional amendment in today's climate.

Today's climate has been created largely by homosexuals pressing hard in the court system for rights that certainly the founder never conceived existed in the Constitution and which legislatures won't give them. This wouldn't be an issue but for the legal cases that homosexuals brought, not only in Texas to overturn sodomy laws, but in other states to gain the right to marriage.

What you're suggesting, it seems to me, is that because they have made this an issue, therefore those opposed to it are now prohibited from expressing their opposition. That is, all movement needs to do is bring an issue to the forefront of societal consciousness and the responsible opponents of that concept suddenly need to shut up to avoid being seen as part of the irresponsible opposition, which there will always be to any proposition.

I know you're not specifically saying that, but it seems to me a necessary consequence of what you ARE saying. Isn't it?
