just kicking ass isnt good enough. The results must be of long lasting benefit to both us and the peoples whose lot we are trying to improve in the process. Thats why we are different than napoleon, hitler etc. Ending terrorism would be great but in addition we also need to end some of the root causes of terrorism--not israel as scott would have us do but the backwardness spurred by antiquated religious beliefs. Khomenis grandson said this about iran today so we have allies in the Islamic world who may begin to speak out. Empires fall primarily because of growing discontent among the governed. If lives are being improved by the stronger nation then we wont have that problem. mike
