I'm all for importing better teachers. We aren't getting very good ones right now- although the layoffs in tech may cause some better people to show up. I'm a pragmatist, so if we can get good teachers from somewhere else, let's get 'em. But they better be really good.

the visas are gone, no kidding though. Feinstein is on TV here about them and she is pissed. L1 is gone and H1B curtailed, legislation coming down next month. In 04 H1B goes down to original 64K so that is 1/5 the number we have today, I have heard they plan to cut back on that. So please don't make career plans based on importing foreign workers with visas. Nothing will happen with offshoring though, its full steam ahead.

Whoever made that point about big drug companies lobbying for free labor trade but not allowing free trade when it comes to buying products from canada, spot on imo. I think I will send a few letters to congress with that particular anomaly.
