Next week, Applied Materials Inc. is expected to report its results for its third fiscal quarter of 2003. No big surprises here.

The chip-equipment giant is projected to meet Wall Street's expectations, as it will earn $0.04 on sales of $1.075 billion, up 3 percent from its previous quarter, according to a report from SG Cowen Securities Corp.

Orders are expected to be up 5 percent in the quarter, verses flat guidance given by the company. In its fourth quarter, Applied is expected to project that its orders will jump 10 percent.
