There is no way anyone will be better than me at my job. If they are, I should give it up.

(To be honest, my husband is also amazingly good at what he does. They really can't afford to lay him off. Even if the entire company moved- my guess is we would move with it.)

well as for me right at this moment I don't think I am in jeopardy of losing my job... however a lot of the fun I used to have at work is gone due to offshoring. My salary is way down too, and in these conditions I'm not sure I would have chosen this business for a career. But the thing that bothers me is, that this is a much larger issue than just cost containment or whether some individual's livelihood is removed. We cannot offshore the technology industry in this country and expect to create anything to build on in the next 10 years. The new inventions will come from india and is that what we want? It isn't what I want. This situation reminds me a little of the consumer electronics industry in the US in the 80s when I was in college. I knew somebody whose father worked at Atari in the early days, he was so disraght at how the US allowed japan to dump goods here and destroy our industries. Its like if there is no short term immediate benefit for an American company, nobody fights for anything here.
