The Road to Memphis by Richard Pearce At the age of 13/14, I would time my bus ride home from downtown, so I could walk Beale Street and listen to the music coming out of the clubs. It all had to be done just right. I was usually the only "white face" around, but I was young enough to "not count". Even so, I didn't stay too late, or "wear out my welcome". Biggest regret - not "hanging out" at Sun records. "Too soon old, too late smart". Well, not smart, maybe just a little less dumb. lurqer
