Taylor punishes Cuevas!
By Scotti Vandevender at ringside
Unbeaten middleweight contender Jermain Taylor continued to shine Friday night, scoring an impressive twelve round shutout over game Freddie Cuevas at the Alltel Arena in Little Rock, Arkansas. Taylor (17-0, 12 KOs) opened the bout by spearing Cuevas (22-6-1, 16 KOs) repeatedly with a hard left jab. In round five, Taylor began to open up with both hands, scoring increasingly more dominant rounds. In round eight, Taylor began landing hurtful bombs to the body, which brought Cuevas' arms down. But the experienced Cuevas showed incredible toughness down the stretch, lasting the full twelve rounds. Scores were 120-108 on all cards as Taylor picked up the WBC Continental Americas middleweight title in dominating fashion.
