that could be assuaged by a little less reliance on frozen dogmas and doctrines and a little more enlightenment of the individuals themselves ...more real "life" study & growth.

That's for sure. Like Rosenthal says. Someone has to be wrong and people don't like to be wrong, especially about their closely held beliefs. And add to that the fact that if they are wrong about pre-trib then that will be a nasty shock after comfortably believing they will not suffer.

The rapture question was a hot topic when I was a young Christian over 2 decades ago. Everyone said, what do you believe. I always said I didn't really know. And studying Revelation back then was very confusing. In my quest to understand the Gospel I had to "start over" three times as I felt I had gotten off. I just went back to the beginning and threw out everything and started building again with basic truth, three times. I didn't want to be off. And I never even tried to claim I understood Revelation. Not for 15 more years did Revelation start to gel. I think many don't have intellectual honesty and an attitude of let the chips fall where they may, I want the truth. And wait on the Lord.

I had a co-worker who offered me a book about the rapture and asked if I'd read it and tell her what I thought. She claimed to be impartial, having no set opinion about it. I studied the book carefully comparing it to Scripture and came to the conclusion pre-trib actually had only wishful thinking to support it. When I told her my thoughts and pointed out the many things that are contradicted in scripture that the author stated as fact to my surprise she became down right hostile to me! The rapture is a very divisive issue.
