but I don't buy the secular bear market theory

And that's what I don't understand. I'm not trying to "pick a fight", I really don't understand. If this were just another tech bust - sure. But it so obviously isn't. I could get out the charts and show you the massive overvaluation that not only accompanied the peak, but still exists, but I'm sure you've seen them. Moreover, I'm sure you already know that in the past when a huge valuation bubble has occurred, it invariable was followed by a many year secular bear. So, if the Jazz Age bubble of the boomers grandparents, and the Go-Go bubble of the boomers parents was followed by a secular bear, why are the boomers exempt?

Just trying to get your perspective.

"Howard Stern, blogs and voter virgins hold the key"

By Joe Trippi*

msnbc.msn.com

<<...So, I am getting really tired of those cute names for the voting groups that are supposedly going to decide the outcome of this election. You know, NASCAR Dads! Soccer Moms!

It’s all wrong. The key to this election will be young people, disaffected young people, young people who have never voted before— and I’ll be damned if I am going to come up with some cutesy name for them "like Sons and Daughters of Nascar Dad and Soccer Moms." Just shoot me!

What is remarkable about this election cycle is how for the first time in decades the younger generation of Americans is the most active and energized. How they communicate with each other, how they register, turn out and vote may well decide everything in November...>>
