Robinson presumably took a religious vow before God to stay married 'till death do us part.

I didn't know that the Episcopalians don't allow divorce and accept the divorced into their community. I thought only the Catholics drew a hard line at divorce.

I haven't followed his story at all. Don't know much about him. The only thing I read was an interview with his daughter who didn't seem to feel abandoned as Robertson asserted. She claimed he was a real class guy.

Personally, I have no interest in schisms in the Anglican church. Churches fall out and join up all the time.
