Do you believe the research which says that the best environment for children to grow up in is a stable two-parent family with one male and one female parent?

Asked and answered, Chris. I'm long and repeatedly on record as agreeing that this is the optimal environment for raising children. I just don't find it as salient a point as you do.

Do you believe that continuing to loosen the meaning and intergrity of heterosexual marriage might interfere with the ability of the social pendulum to swing back to a place where society places more value on the benefits of stable long-term heterosexual relationships for the raising of children?

As I recall, I not only answered this question but started this discussion with the point that the horse was already in the next county. IMO, codifying homosexual marriages could lock the door so the horse couldn't get back in if he wanted to. However, the horse ain't going back in in any event so it's moot. I've complained repeatedly in recent days that, even here on this thread, there is no one inclined to engage on how we might get the horse back. If there's no energy to do that, then it doesn't matter if we lock the barn door with the horse outside. Personally, I don't see any way of restoring marriage in the civil environment and the only way to do it would be in the religious environment. Therefore, it would be in the best interests of the marriage proponents to join with me in establishing a dual track, religious and civil, for family formation rather than ignoring the advantages of establishing an institution of civil unions.

Do you believe that allowing same sex marriage might have any negative long-term social impacts on society?

I don't know. Probably not.
