You wrote a good one. H1-B for most part was scam. It needs to be scrapped, no compromise. I know many of my friends have complained not being hired because H1-B was hired and they also say the ads these days are for labor certification and not actual hiring. I cannot believe Human Resources will be cohorts in committing a crime. IMHO

>>These visas sucked the life out of the US software industry, I'm glad they are on their way out. I've worked with a lot of great H1-Bs too, who will soon have green cards and that is great. I'm all for diversity but not labor dumping<<

as long as we still have overcapacity and the lack of pricing power, co's will do whatever they must to keep their overhead expense falling.

that means replacing high cost american workers with workers from china and india.

unintended consequence of the new legislation if passed is it could prompt even more corporate facility development offshore.

The only thing that is going to slow down the offshore
Tsunami is the devaluation of the US dollar in the currency
markets. That process has already begun. A consequence of
a lower US dollar will be higher long term interest rates
here which could choke off the fledgling recovery . Bush is certainly not helping with his irresponsible fiscal policy. I believe that is why the stock market has stalled here as it tries to grapple with the prospects of a runaway deficit
, lower dollar and higher rates.
