<<'What we need is more business investment and new job creation.'>> What we need is Paul Volker to come back in and raise the discount rate to 15%....that'd put an end to all the malinvestment, and much like a forest fire it would clear out the underbrush (excess capacity) and allow for true "investment" after the recession and market clearing events occurred. Hell, in this environment, a 5% discount rate might be enough. It'll never happen, though, because it isn't politically expedient.
