My feelings were that it was silly that anyone even considered it an issue. I thought he should have been more like, "Yeeeahhh sooooo'ooo what. Get a clue." He ripped off an old Dick Cavet joke ..."Yah, but I didn't inhale." I didn't really care and thought he handled it ok. I am around his age and background. I actually supported him running for office.

Your paraphrase is inaccurate in my opinion. Mr. bill never admitted he tried pot. He admitted he did not have the courage to just say no and caved to peer pressure and went along. He went thru the motions but did not try pot.

That is what Mr. Bill said, if you take him at his word. The nature of his reply was an idiot identification event cue. Was he lying? truth means little. Was he flippant? he does not see drugs as a serious problem.

As an example to young people it was awful.

A sheep goes along, not a leader.

PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH's replies were more honest and showed more character and recognized bad judgement for bad judgement with no ambiguity.
