Jacob - while we invest billions to reduce our foreign oil demand oil becomes cheaper for our competitors. How is the supply of oil protected for the rest of the interdependent world?

Besides, all the things you talk about will have to occur to some degree over the next twenty years as demand from a growing global economy increases against a weakening supply. Within 10 years the quantity of oil production will have peaked and we will be forced to start looking past the petroleum age. The days of cheap oil are numbered.
