That was the traditional mode. Good management means that industry analysts continually forecast future shortages, the article just posted, but they just don't happen. At this point, next quarters results and AMAT $15 vs AMAT $19 is most uninteresting. AMAT $20B sales in 2007-8 is still the proposition that needs debate, but analysts only know what management tells them and management doesn't go much beyond the next quarter.
