it is not being spread through email. it is distributed through unprotected, unpatched services on your computer. it attempts to enter through a specific port.

you were scanned by other infected machines and, being unprotected, the worm attempted to download and run the Msblast.exe file on your machine. if there is no firewall to block it, and no windows security patch to rebuff it, and no current virus definition to stop it, it has found a perfect place to live.

how you got the infection is that you left yourself unprotected.
