Nadine you seem to be a straight shooter but we do not own Iraq Pity we destroyed all our good relations by invading out of the blue, then </heavy sarcasm> Aren't you kind of forgetting the invasion of Kuwait, Gulf War I, the cease-fire, and 12 years of 'keeping Saddam in his box'? I know you have said that they have nothing to do with each other, but it's not true and it won't be true no matter how many times you say it. The time to say don't meddle with Iraq was in 1990. Since then, we have been involved. As far as we were concerned Iraq was a festering sore. Now there is hope of its improvement, and as as a side benefit, Saddam has stopped killing 10,000 Iraqis a year and more. Oh, I forgot, humanitarian benefits don't count if you go in with impure motives, so the Iraqis should have been left to Saddam's tender mercies.

Whose oil is it anyway? <we do not own Iraq. It does not belong to us. We do not own their oil. > Since Kuwait and Iraq only exist thanks to the UN and those countries were calved from the Ottoman empire, and since the USA, or Coalition of the Willing [Cow], conquered Saddam's Iraq, it's not entirely clear just who does own the oil. Then there's the debt issue. France and Russia claim that THEY own the oil because Saddam's gang borrowed a lot of money from them [or got a lot of weapons which he said he'd pay for later]. The Saddam creditors think that Iraqis should pay them the debts owed by Saddam, presumably by selling oil and giving the proceeds to France and Russia. Since I paid for the defeat of Saddam and we won, I think I own the oil. In the absence of a NUN [New United Nations], reconstituted into more than the anachronistic WWII Victors' Club, and since conquest still seems to be the deciding factor in national ownership, there's room for dispute. What's needed is for the NUN to be set up and Iraq to be run by the NUN, with the oil taken by the NUN to fund their operations and Iraq's development. France, Russia and other Saddam creditors can be told to take a hike. They have no claim on Iraqis' property, nor on NUN property, nor on my property. If they want to, they can try fighting me and the Cow for Iraq's oil. They should be mindful though that the Cow is more like a great big raging bull. USS Ronald Raygun is now sailing the seven seas and USS Enterprise is out there too. I say the oil belongs to We the Sheeple. Mqurice
