Unfortunately the populace in Iraq is anything but happy about the US invasion. The majority of Iraqis do not want the US there.

You're right about the humanitarian leg. It was shoved up under the stool as the other two legs fell off, but it's still teetering and will fall. Either by an impeachment proceeding or by being voted out of office.
