Well it shouldn't start with a ground war in Iraq where it was already known that Al Qaeda and the Baathist party were not even talking to each other. There were no terrorists in Iraq, except for Saddam himself.

The war on terrorism will be a war of intelligence and police actions rooting out the cells. And yes the action in Afghanistan was needed too to knock out the legs of Al Qaeda. Extrapolating the war on terror to Iraq was a huge mistake.

The war on terror, as I said, will be won on the measure of our intelligence capability. Intelligence is heavily reliant on trust and cooperation between nations. The New Yorker had an interesting article on how the Syrians were looking to cooperate with the US on intelligence matters, but this door closed with the action in Iraq, and the bullying of Syria by this administration.

Elsewhere in Europe the war on terror is hampered in France and Germany. And the islamic fundamentalists, the pool that Al Qaeda fishes new terrorist from has been growing with the action in Iraq.

Bush keeps effing up. And we're gonna have to pay for this for generations.
