I intended to bring in the UN, to highlight its impotence in enforcing its own resolutions. It's an organization of high aspiration but a lack of will and limited utility for dealing with despots. In light of subsequent revelations that France and others secretly aided and traded with Saddam while he raped, tortured, and murdered his own people, and that some opposition comes from countries where terrorists have traditionally found refuge and might be pressured to cough them up, I just can't imagine why France and those others might have opposed it. Can you? Are you in total and absolute denial?
