Read it this morning. The article is right on target but it's about "new" suburbs, not "old" suburbs, where I live. The problems in the "olds" are not quite of the same magnitude. And are actually of a somewhat different character.

However, we have the New Jersey bit in which property taxes are the biggest source of education money--much above the national average, as I'm certain you saw in the Times article; not enough "ratables"--am learning more precisely what that means in tax lingo; less money from the state thanks to any number of causes, not least of which is brother Bush (more state mandates without funding, see Bush's education plan); and various and sundry other money needs.
