Kevin, I think the Bush Administration has a serious problem in discounting the seriousness of the various problem faced by the nation. They have consistently discounted the seriousness of the job losses. They have discounted the seriousness of the budget deficit - saying it was "manageable". They discounted the problem of the Iraq invasion so they did little or no post war planning. They have even discounted the terrorist threat by lack of funding for homeland security. Finally, they are discounting the seriousness of the various environmental threats faced by the nation.
