Japan is deeply distrusted by its neighbors. It cannot be overstated. The brutality of the Japanese in WWII rivaled the worst of Nazi Germany. Millions of people were brutally butchered in cold blood and in the most horrific bio-weapons experiments in human history. Japan chose bio-weapons over nukes and tested them relentlessly on the Chinese. Japan is now on the edge of launching a new arms race in Asia -- it is an extremely worrisome development. Japan is not a "great power". Japan is lying low because they cannot pursue their economic agenda with people giving any thought to the atrocities they committed.
