RE:"Arnold is a liberal too. He is a Democrat Republican. This is CA, not FLA. He's married to Maria Shriver."

Arnold is supposed to be fiscally conservative. I don't think I can say that about Buffett. At least no on taxation but I need to know more.
Gee Ted, we know it's not FL. The county I live in is very liberal, BTW.
Maria Shriver? SO...you haven't heard about the stories of Arnold vs the Kennedys around the dinner table...there are great differences there. Arnold is very fiscally conservative vs the Kennedys.

RE:"In CA, Republicans are Democrats except they are more fiscally conservative.......or at least they used to be. That's why I was an independent. Its the same in MN. This thread has taught me how Reps. really are in other parts of the country and its why I've dropped my independent status.
In CA and MN, some of my best friends were Reps. LOL!"

You, an Independent? Ted...call yourself whatever you want. We know you, remember? LOL

Jim

Ted,

I think Arnold is a libertarian, rather than a liberal. I think the political philosophy is at least 2 diminsional, whith one dimension being socialist vs. free market, the other being personal freedoms / responsibilities / respect for traditions, and government role in these.

The US liberals are socialist in economic matters (heavy government hand) and hands off, anything goes in personal matters.

Libertarians are hands off in both areas, so there is a difference. The opposite of libertarians would be fascist, who, like liberals, are socialist in economic terms, but on the personal matters they were conservatives.

Something like this:

Libertarians
|
|
Conservatives -------+----------- Socialists (liberals)
(Most Reps) | (Most Dems)
|
Fascists

Joe
