Ivanhoe acquires new metals projects in China
Wed August 13, 2003 06:09 AM ET
LONDON, Aug 13 (Reuters) - Canada's Ivanhoe Mines Ltd has entered into a joint venture with a Chinese state company to explore for a develop gold, copper, silver, molybdenum and other minerals in Inner Mongolia, Ivanhoe said on Wednesday.
Ivanhoe has the right to earn up to 80 percent in the new projects, but was keeping the names and locations confidential for competitive reasons whilst exploration efforts in target areas were ongoing, the firm said in a statement.

"Ivanhoe's initial assessment of the three new projects indicates the presence of high-grade, multi-phase gold and gold-copper-silver mineralisation," the statement said.

The small-cap miner said it was completing a detailed geological evaluation of each project and undertaking an aggressive exploration programme to determine the full extent of the high-grade mineralisation.

Shares in Ivanhoe, listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange, closed on Tuesday at C$4.84, just off a recent all-time high of C$5.05 set the previous day. Ivanhoe's share price and volume traded have increased significantly since mid-July.

>>For instance, the outbreak of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) caused the price of medical services to soar 10.5 percent, the bureau said.<<

SARS is back. Sequence on 200 bp of Surrey SARS CoV is 100% identical to other SARS CoVs. SARS has definitely re-emerged in Vancouver area (Surrey, just a few miles from the only documented case of SARS transmission in British Columbia - I think it is the only documented case in North America outside of Toronto area) and it will be a very long fall/winter season on the SARS front.

The virus will come from HUMAN reservoirs scattered around the world, as the virus returns with a vengeance.
