Chuck, my opinion differs from yours on the US defining the political landscape in the Arab world. First off, the US should not go it alone but go along with the rest of the world including the French. They understand the world better than the US does so is the case with the UK. This comes from their colonization experience which the US does not have.

While I do agree that the Arab landscape needs to be defined, I am skeptical about US' success when they decide to go it alone. History is replete with such failed endeavors when a country goes to do it all bt themselves, the latest being Hitler. He thought that the German nation and the German race could do it alone except off course with the help of a few mad men like Musolinni, HIrohito etc.
