Help wanted to work a menial minimum wage job that would only provide a near poverty existence. That's a republican for you.

You mean help wanted signs to flip burgers or work at wal-mart, target etc. for minimum wage that puts you below poverty level? Yup, we should all be thankful for all the great jobs the Republicans are creating. <vbg>

Maybe, but if you're drawing unemployment, that's more than a minimum wage job which is what is mostly posted outside on wanted signs. I should know, my wife was laid off recently and after her severance ran out, she started to get quite a bit more than minimum wage in her unemployment check every week. Of course, it's not going to last forever, but why not take back some of the money that you've been paying into these programs all your working life.I have no problem with it. She wanted to continue in her old job, but her position was cut. Now, she is in no rush to go back to work, especially to a job she doesn't need and might not like. With a few cutbacks (e.g. we don't eat out as much) and a mortgage refinancing, we are just as well off as when she was working. Only difference is we're saving less, but still much more than the average US citizen, but of course, the house is looking nicer, I have less chores at home and my dinner is ready every evening when I get home :-)
