Esteban, it certainly seems as if AVG is trying to discourage free AVG users - judging by how hard it is to find the updates. I will look into Avast! Thank you.

Esteban, I installed Avast! but did not activate the e-mail protection because it involves routing e-mail through their server. Thinking about this. I seldom use that computer for e-mail using an e-mail client.

Within a minute after the reboot following Avast! installation it automatically updated virus defs. Right now it's doing a scan of my HD. I checked the box to be notified by e-mail when updates are available.

I'm running Norton Anti Virus (NAV 2001) and have been reading the glowing reports on AVAST. Can they both run together ? TIA
