Mike, we went into Iraq without the world's support. You surely can't expect them to now come rescue us. Forget about euro/japanese parliaments helping in Iraq. If you wait for them, Iraq is as good as lost. And the argument that we can't afford it is only good for those that can't count: If we can afford a $500 billion a year deficit, we surely can afford $20 billion in reconstruction aid for Iraq.

Kyros

PS. I agree we can't afford it, but when you have maxed out 99 of your 100 credit cards, maxing out the last one is not going to hurt you much.

'What happened to all the folks who want to internationalize this'

Our input was rejected by your rulers, michael .... when we said wait a minute, let us all together make a coherent workable plan, your neocons first tried to bully and bribe us into subjugation, then failing at that they went ahead and rolled in their own tanks in their own hasty and ill-conceived manner

We told them and we told them and we told them, don't be so bloody stupid

But thusly didst it come to pass, that they didst insist on being so bloody stupid

Now you are concerned about financial cost of occupying a nation on the other side of the planet

Well, duh .... we could have told you about that too, had you been listening ... blood and treasure, that's what it takes, a shilling a day and a bob each way adds up when you're talking many regiments for many years on the other side of the bloody planet ..... let me guess - this neoconartist group is a little light on maths whizzes, aren't they, too many ideologue chiefs and not enough injuns with calculators

'Marcos wants to help' - yes, definitely ... tell you what, i'll do you a great favour right now, pass you something useful, a most pertinent piece of advice -

Change your regime.

<<We cant be the worlds policeman, fireman, sanitationman and banker in multiple locations all at the same time and without substantial help.>>

I'm surprised that you say this Mike. You can't just de-legitimize and neuter the UNSC with one stroke and then expect the folks that you spurned to come in and help out when the mess starts escalating. As a matter of interest....how much has Israel contributed financially to the whole adventure, after all they're one of the main benefactors?
