Already have lots of puts -- not gonna fart around with DELL. QQQs should do fine if we have already topped -- just don't know until we get past expiry??

3M's Downgrade Could Actually Send It Higher
Thursday August 14, 1:47 pm ET

By James J. Cramer,

The market has spoken: It likes Smith Barney's downgrade of 3M (NYSE:MMM - News). But will MMM rise up again, now that its been knocked back to $142?

Tough question.

First, Jeff Sprague was in an unenviable position with this downgrade. By the nature of it, he has sent the stock very close to where someone else might want to upgrade it. Here's why. Sprague, like many analysts, has to believe that there is at least a fair amount of upside to keeping a stock as a one-rated stock. You typically have to believe that there is 25% appreciation ahead to keep it on the list. (Once again, if this stuff is new to you, please go buy Conflicted by Michael Culp, a novel that gives you an unbelievable behind-the-scenes depiction of a situations similar to what might have gone on between Sprague and his research director about the MMM downgrade.)<<
