The SS trust fund is not projected to go into deficit until 2022.

I think you don't understand the accounting for something like pension. It is NOT based on cash basis. David would be able to explain it better, but if you need, I can try to explain.

Suppose you start a corporation, hire employees, and promise them pension. If you run your pension plan the way Social Security is run, you would be immediately arrested.
