Some will claim it was a publicity stunt. But most will ignore it, focusing instead on what hasn't been accomplished -- yet -- and on the impatient media's timetable.

I'd like to send a couple of NYT editors to the outlands of Pakistan to personally negotiate peace with bin Laden. May they fare better than Daniel Pearl did. Or have we already forgotten?
