Mike,

I also read the missile reports on that one, but discount them based on technological considerations. Missiles small enough to be smuggled in and shoulder fired did not then and still do not have the range to reach the altitude required.

The current concern is for someone firing close enough to an airport to work within this class of missiles range.

I remember about a year ago a SAM was fired at an Israeli airliner taking off in Africa. Luckily the plane was equipped with an anti missile device and was missed.
