Al, No...that's not what I said. They do not have the choice to rest. People have choices. Save for a Mercedes retirement, or at least Chevy. Not saving means you are stuck with a Yugo lifestyle that SS offers. Those who believed SS will pay for a Mercedes lifestyle were fooled. Those who fooled them were - Democrats. What drama! Now we will starve our children to save SS. LOL This may seem funny to you. Maybe you are so detached from real life that you don't know the struggle young families go through. Why do you think people have so few children, or no children at all? Many reasons: not finding the right partner, comfort, medical problems, but of those who can, after adding it up, many realize that they can't afford it. The young couple has no choice about feeding the retirees (jail is the consequence of not paying taxes) so they have to sacrifice the young to feed the old. Elderly people will not all decide to work til they phycically can't, nor will they be forced into it, no matter what your life habits or beliefs. The health of SS depends on our goverment taking steps to make sure it's not broken in 15 years. The only way to keep SS healthy is to keep the ratio of retirees to working people such that it will not wreck the economy. Since people naturally get old, and live longer and longer, there are only 2 ways to keep the ratio in a way SS can remain solvent. Increase the retirement age, or hope the that the seniors will die quicker. Democrats, as far as I know, are against touching the retirement age, so the only recipe from you guys is that you pray that the old folks die. Well, third way is to have more kids who will turn into taxpayers. Joe
