Donne and Augustine are just two of the more notable ones because they were such excellent writers -- are, for me, subjective evidence of the existence of the divine. There is no evidence that such people are deluded, or confused, or anything other than convinced by the inevitable necessity of accepting the divine existence.

One could also , just as easily be finally growing up....

... giving up the conceits and narcissism of youth and infantile regressions , self preoccupation,lack of empathy , and built up unconscious deficits in self-esteem ...not to mention looking at one's own arse in the mirror too much ...such inauthenticity and waste of time !

But belief in one's finding the "divinity" in existence ...also works too . By all means , let's have more divine existence between us.

There are such weird dichotomies in your posts. I am surely surprised that you could appreciate Donne given your past "contributions" to this thread. But I respect the fact that you do...
