"The problem is they (the Pentagon) don't even want to ask to have it extended."

Surely you see the flaw in that statement. The Pentagon advocates for increased budgets as a way of life. Many of the people who devote their lives to the military would like to see a Spartan like economy, where the best soldiers are at the top of society, economically and socially.

"These folks are volunteers who have no option to quit or leave their jobs like ordinary folks."

Absolutely correct, that is what they have volunteered for.

"I had two options. 1. live with it or 2. leave
The military folks don't have that option."

Again. Absolutely correct. You did not join the most violent force the world has ever known. You did not vow an allegiance to follow the commands of this force at the sacrifice of home and family. You did not join the military. The military is NOT about competing in business to make wages.

If congress decides to allocate additional funds for their wages, I will say YIPPPEEEE. I bet you wont.
