Jewel, I don't think you could reveal more of yourself if you tried. What's this latest about?

>>"If you are going to be ridiculous there is no point in me responding to more of your posts. People know (or should know) why they enlist in the military. There is no reason for me to answer for people who don't know why they are there. The conditions they are living under are an awful struggle that these people opted for when they signed up."<<

Nice piece of rationalization. Sure they "signed up." Don't you think that there was an implied term in that "sign up?" Try this;

* They signed up believing that they would not be called upon to kill or be killed UNLESS IT WAS NECESSARY AS A LAST RESORT.

* They had a right to expect that their commanders would act with restraint, good judgement and respect for the lives and well-being of their troops.

* They had a right to expect that when very unusual conditions required huge sacrifices on their part, that their country would take special care to provide for them and their families.

Is that too hard for you to comprehend? They didn't sign up as indentured servants whose lives and hopes could be discarded at will by people who thought cutting their pay would be good for the rest of us. They didn't sign up to be treated like cattle herded into pens to be singled out for slaughter.

I'm all for cutting the military budget. As Eisenhower so clearly understood, much of the budget goes to fund beauracratic waste and line the pockets of the crooked. I'm all for getting the hell out of Iraq now, before we lose more troops, spend billions more each week and are forced out by the religious and political factions that are the rule in the Mid East. I'm NOT for cutting it 300 MILION from the paychecks of the PEOPLE that we send to die and kill on our behalf.

Even you, with your "so what" attitude when it comes to our soldiers, should understand that.
