If they have a mandate, it is an 'apathetic mandate' (or, possibly a 'fear-driven mandate').

I hope that the issue is that people just don't know the truth yet. With Watergate, Nixon was able to keep a lid on it in '72, even though there were published reports before the election. Sometimes it just takes time for the facts to come out.

I think a Bush reelection hinges on one thing: the economy. If it improves, he will win. If it degrades, he will lose. If it stays the same, it's a toss-up, depending on the Demo candidate. IMHO.

Kerry-Dean is good, but I'm sure Dean is seeing it as Dean-Kerry at this point. Not sure how good of a #2 man Dean would be, and I have the feeling he views Kerry as a 'status quo' politician.
