too bad tooleaky....

you recall tooleaky's claim...

"This program very clearly penetrates every firewall on the market, including Zone Alarm. It sends data out to a server (in this case, grc.com, just like Steve Gibson's LeakTest), and then retrieves data in response--completely bypassing your firewall."

well i am happy to report that the tooleaky "exploit" is totally outed by zonealarm pro v4.0

first of all the new (for me) zap "mobile code control" browser settings i have entered won't even let me download the tooleaky executable from tooleaky.zensoft.com ... which says right away that zap detected trouble and is on the job.

[per the zap help file... "Malicious mobile code can copy files, clear your hard disk, steal passwords, or command servers. Mobile code control keeps hackers from using active content to compromise your security or damage your computer."]

still wanting to test tooleaky against the higher/tighter program controls in zap, i downloaded the executable on another pc and emailed it to myself.

at that point my isp, using mcafee AV, quarantined the file in a "sandbox" as a possible virus. i went to the sandbox where i could view the quarantined file, and told mcafee to deliver the tooleaky email anyway.

so the email came thru only to have zap flag it as possibly infected. despite dire warnings from zap email protection, i clicked on the tooleaky executable to run it on my machine.

just as i had hoped, a zap alert popped up for advanced program control (new program), asking "do you want to allow tooleaky.exe to use Internet Explorer to access the internet".

while i was reading the zap alert, a tooleaky dialog appeared that said,

"there was apparently no leak, your computer or internet connection is very slow, or, most likely, the GRC.com website is down temporarily. please try again later."

LOL! i have a broadband connection and grc.com is up and running fine!

tooleaky is a sore loser!
