American Stock Exchange Announces Delayed Opening.

August 15th, 2003.
The American Stock Exchange announced today that the start of trading would be delayed due to the outage of a ConEd substation that supplies steam to cool the Exchange’s trading floor.

The Amex had generators on the site last evening, and its trading systems are fully operational. However, for the systems to operate in a live environment, the atmosphere must be climate controlled to maintain the functionality and integrity of the technology.

The Amex has been assured by ConEd that it is working to restore the substation as quickly as possible, and a portable generation unit has been located for the Amex in the interim, and it is in the process of being deployed. The Amex’s back-up facility is fully operational and available in the event that the situation cannot be resolved.

The Amex will continue to provide status updates as they are available and as soon as a definitive opening time has been established.
