Read somewhere that ESPD has some fabulous bond trading software where they were trying to protect the patents. That and the fundies looked pretty good when I looked at them 1-2 years ago.

Anyone follow SSFT (buying SPWX)? I owned some in the low $5's, bought some more SPWX in the very low $3's and just bought some more post merger. Results & CC were not impressive but it is acting much better than the results warrant. That is always an extremely positive sign to me. They will almost have a monopoly since they purchased Lernout and Hauspie (Dragon was part of that I believe), Phillips, and now Speechworks. And I heard IBM dropped their product line. Competition is Nuance

Any comments?

On this issue of corporate capex spending, I found out today that Applied Materials is running their inhouse staff on Pentium II desktop boxes from IBM with winNT version 4.0. They are in the process of an XP upgrade with a lot of the same machines, give me a break! There is only so long they can run with this junk.
