But I also remember the nuclear freeze movement, cutting off the contras, cutting off the South Vietnamese, etc....

It is not entirely untrue....

Those of us who remember the Cold War with out the clouded vision of Bobdole's Disease remember well that the Marxist/Leninist anti-American left fought hard for the Soviet side all through the Cold War.
