If that were true, then why the rush to invade? There was a significant block of countries that said that they would support us if we waited an additional 45 days. If something significant happened, then we could avoid a costly war. More likely, nothing would have happened, but we would have had much more international support, possibly including letting the 4th mech inf go through Turkey instead of sitting out the fight. Additionally, we may have really seen Iraqis rise up, given a UN invasion instead of a US one. Finally, we'd be sharing the load with the rest of the world, and not stretching our resources so thinly (and not bearing the entire nearly $5b/month + rebuilding expense).

Opponents said the weather would have been less favorable. A small tradeoff considering the benefits. We're paying now (and will continue to pay) for Bush's inability to be a diplomat.
