First some comments on your referenced charthome.comcast.net Looking at the periods of minimal bookings in Jan 95, then Sept 96 and then Sept 98, I would say that Bookings and AMAT share price were in near perfect synchronization. Then things changed after the peak in Mar/Apr 00. There is some different action occurring. AMAT share price started down in Apr 00 while Bookings did not peak until Oct of 00. By the time Bookings peaked in Oct 00 AMAT share price had fallen from 57 to below 30. AMAT share price "bounced' around in the 20's during late 01 and early 02. Bookings reached "bottom" in Apr 02 and stayed low until it started rising in Jan 02. The rise continued until Jul 02. During this period, AMAT share price seemed to lead Bookings by 2 to 3 months, both on the upside and the downside. Lately, however, it seems we have a different situation. Bookings has been going down the past several months while AMAT share price is going up. Somewhere in one of the posts I read yesterday or today, the writer suggested that AMAT had less Bookings this past month again. There was some disagreement about a 100M order that may have been counted more than once. Anyway, I don't think that even in the best of cases, Bookings has increased much - it may be continuing down. Price is going up, however. What does it all mean? - darned if I know!:) How about your chart that shows backlog for AMAT? The latest chart I believe shows a declining backlog.home.comcast.net Does that have the latest data from AMAT's last report? Don
