FRONT CAR! Read on ..... I was just thinking this afternoon, Scott, whether it might be possible for my stomach to handle a trip to Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio, before the summer is out. I am feeling THAT much better after the second "infusion" was completed Friday afternoon. I know that's kind of goofy thinking; but a whole summer without a visit to an amusement park is simply depressing. So we're operating on the "great minds think alike" program. Also on the "great minds think alike" topic, when I was leaving the hospital after the first "infusion" (August 1), I was thinking about buying the book, Seabiscuit. Well, that night a friend of mine brought it over as a gift. He said he viewed it as the story of the "longshot." (Frankly, I don't think beating this stomach cancer is a longshot. Anyway!) I read the book during the 4 days I just spent in the hospital for the second "infusion," finished it Friday morning, was discharged Friday afternoon, and saw the movie on Friday night. #1: Book #2: Movie Both Fabulous Don't miss the book! It's even worth reading AFTER the movie. The detail in the book is wonderful. Laura Hillenbrand weaves a tear-jerking, spell-binding tale, particularly regarding the horrific world of the 1930's jockeys. Low pay, no health insurance, terrible efforts to make weight, and horrific injuries. As beautifully acted and photographed as the movie was--yes, indeed--it is little more than the "Cliff's Notes" of that phenominal book. Only 325 pages. The new, specially illustrated edition is only $25 and belongs on every bookshelf. I love Jeff Bridges and I've always thought he had Academy Award winning potential. I just don't think he had it in this one, though. But who knows? This movie was such a whopper and he's so beloved. /john
